Bilbao, Spain

Sorry pictures are taking a long time to upload, but they are all in the video so I hope you enjoy that!

Bilbao

Bilbao was a small city, with the only real highlight being the Guggenheim museum. But it was fun getting to hang out and go out with the group, get some work done, catch up on some rest, and travel to some other cool cities.

Right when we got in the city we were all starving so we went to a little mom and pops restaurant. We sat down it was hot, and really dark. So we were a little skeptical, but decided to stick it out. Lauren and Katie could not take the wait, so they left… as soon as they left the AC turned on, about a minute later all the lights turned on, then we heard Usher in the background… All trip we have been singing Ushers new song “love in the club”, and here we are in this tiny little restaurant and guess what song comes on… “love in the club”. We started dancing in the restaurant and laughing at how hysterical the situation was. Of coarse we told the girls what had happen and they thought we were just trying to make them jealous, but I don’t blame them because that was the last thing I thought would have happened.

Later on the day we got there we went to a huge beach on San Sebastian. San Sebastian is about an hour bus ride from Bilbao, and with out a doubt the coolest beach I have ever been to. It was huge, crowded, and lots of fun.

When you have a group of 15 building science students, and a lot of sand, then sand castles will be built.

We had 3 outstanding pieces. A drip castle of the Sagrada Familia, a hammer head shark and a nail, and then taken it back to Cairo with a sphinx and a pyramid in the background.

The next morning we again got to go on an awesome tour of the Guggenheim. The chief architect is Frank Gehry, debatable one of the most famous architect alive. The construction architect right underneath Gehry meet us at the museum to give us a tour about how they built the building.

After that tour I really realized how fortunate our group has been. I would debate with anyone that we have had the best possible trip overseas. Granted if I traveled with a small group we could cover more ground, and would not be on as tight of a schedule. But with this group we have gotten to do some stuff that I otherwise would not ever get to do. It has also been nice to have all of our logistics planned out, hotels/trains/ect. Also it has been nice to have a slightly slower pace allowing us to really catch up on sleep when we really need it. I cannot imagine things being better.

So the rest of Bilbao was kind of chill, worked a lot, and rested. The last night we went to a disco, average age around 45 years old. We danced all night, stole the show. I have not danced like in who knows how long, but it was a blast. It was about 3:00am when we walked home, completely drenched with sweat.

So we are heading to Paris today, only 1 week left, wow it has flown by, I don’t want to come home.
